Real Mermaids
Don’t sit on rocks
With their opulent tails shimmering in the salt water
Their hands folded
And their racherche hair flowing behind them.
They stand beneath storms
With their heads and palms tilted upwards
While the drops slide through their scalp
And trace the lines
From the corner of their eyes
Down to the slope of their jaw
Where they fall to their two feet below.
