NFL weekly picks: Week Thirteen

The standings have been closer than ever heading into Week Thirteen of NFL weekly picks:

After a strong performance from the special guest last week, we have decided to have another join the panel for this busy week of football. Here are our picks:

Game of the week: The game of the week for Week 13 is going to be the Sunday night showdown between the Patriots and the Vikings. The Patriots have an edge going into this game with the better record. ESPN also gives the Patriots an upper hand with a 67.6-32.2 winning percentage. The Vikings (as well as the Patriots) have high powered offenses, so expect this game to be entertaining and high scoring. As a football fan, for the Vikings, I would love to see Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs blow up the highlight reel. With the subpar Patriots defense, which is currently ranked at 22nd in the league, the door is definitely wide open for these players to have big games this Sunday. For the Patriots high powered offense, the chances for key players such as Rob Gronkowski, James White, and Julian Edelman, to counter the Vikings high powered offense may not be as easy. The Vikings defense is eating opponents offenses this year, as they are ranked the 3rd lowest in total yards given up this year. Nonetheless, one thing that is for sure is that this game is going to excite the viewers at home as both teams will be putting everything on the line this game.

Player of the week: Baker is our player of the week because he is poised for another great week against the Houston Texans. Baker’s four touchdown performance last week shows that he is ready to be the star after the exit of head coach Hue Jackson, and the offensive coordinator Todd Haley. With Jackson and Haley under center, he had four touchdowns and six interceptions opposed to the last three games where he has thrown for nine touchdowns and only one interception. Baker’s weapons including Nick Chubb and Jarvis Landry will be very useful in this big game. The Baker train will continue rolling this week against the Houston Texans.

Bust of the week: Adam Thielen has emerged as one of the top receivers in the game, but is our bust of the week this week. Thielen has had one hundred yards in all but two of his games. This week he is up against a subpar Patriots defense. Despite that fact, the Patriots always focus on taking away a team’s biggest weapon. Davante Adams was held to 40 yards and a touchdown in week nine. Deandre Hopkins was had 78 yards and no touchdown in week one. Some receivers, such as Corey Davis, Tyreek Hill, and Eric Ebron have had big games against the Patriots’ secondary, but were the product of another receiver being held in check. Stefon Diggs could be the next receiver to benefit from that this week. The Patriots will look to make the Vikings “play left handed,” in this big matchup.

Sleeper of the week: Our sleeper for week 12 is Eric Ebron of the Indianapolis Colts. Ebron is playing at an elite level this season, but is still not getting the recognition. The tight end is tied for the league lead with 11 touchdown receptions. Jack Doyle was competing with Ebron for targets, but now that he is on injured reserve, there should be no problems for Ebron eclipsing 5 targets and getting plenty of looks in the red zone.
