Support Lancer Nation’s fight against cancer by purchasing apparel from Lancers Fight Cancer- 2025. All proceeds go to the New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition, a non-profit that provides direct assistance to NH residents battling breast cancer. This year’s merch is available in t-shirts, long sleeves and hoodies.
Digital Learning Specialist Melissa Brayall started the “Lancers Fight Cancer” fundraiser during her second year in the district.
Brayall started this as more personal attire for herself and those who worked in the library, but she soon opened up the floor to administration and school counseling, and it has now branched its way through the district and community.
“There were five of us here in the library, so I was like, ‘Alright, let’s recruit a few more people to get shirts along with us, and then we can order them through this,’” Brayall said.
All funds go directly towards the New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition. They have currently sold 94 items through the website and hope to sell 100 items before their sale ends Sept. 30. There is also a section underneath order forms and donations where people are encouraged to share their stories as they support LHS to reach its goal.
For any additional questions, reach out to Mellissa Brayall. The shirts and sweatshirts will be available for pickup on Oct. 16 and 17, but this year, students and community members also have the option to get them mailed to their homes.
Although this current fundraiser is going to support breast cancer, Lancers fight all cancer, and the school is in this together. More possible Lancers Fight Cancer merch may become an option in the future. Brayall mentioned certain ideas of creating different colored attire, or possibly donating to other branches of cancer.
“So you say, this is the charity I want to donate to,” Brayall said. “The one we use actually comes up when you type it in, so that they can automatically send a check right to them. So people can do straight donations on what customers make, or they can order the shirt.”
Brayall was not new to making shirts for causes; she previously made T-shirts for her mother, who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis, and had other opportunities to express her creative ability while creating attire. Brayall had a strong love for supporting important causes.
“I used to be a class adviser,” Brayall said, “so I’ve [customized] a lot of T-shirts through online companies. I was like, ‘Well, maybe we could make shirts for breast cancer, and maybe then I could donate to charity, that would be kind of cool,’ and so I just did it myself.”
