The movie The Notebook, based on Nicholas Sparks’ book, is a worldwide favorite. Published in 2004, this has been a romance/comedy that viewers continue to love to watch. After hearing a lot about this movie, I decided to go ahead and see what the hype is all about. 

This movie is about two lovers, Allie and Noah. In the movie, we get to see them when they first meet each other and watch their journey all the way until the end.

I loved this movie because it shows what true romance looked like back in the day, and it shows how much Noah truly loved Allie. The directors do a good job of displaying the time frame of the movie by showing people attending fairs and going to drive-in movie theatres. This makes me realize how different it was back then and that people go out and do a lot more.

In the movie, they break up when Allie’s parents judge Noah for being too low-class. Noah also went to serve in the war, which led to them being apart. During the time apart, Allie met a man named James, whom she ended up falling in love with, but Noah was still thinking about Allie during his time at war. Noah’s love for Allie never died, he loved her from the start.

Throughout the movie, I enjoyed seeing how much Noah really loves Allie and that he will do anything to get her back. I just find this part of the movie so adorable, and I know how well he treated her. 

The scenes in this movie are beautiful, and the characters are all well brought into the movie. 

My favorite quote from the movie is from Noah when he says, “So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s going to be hard; we’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, every day.” This conversation right here shows Noah and him wanting all of Allie. This is such a sentimental part of the movie and shows what true love is.

I rate this movie a 4.5/5. The emotion I felt in the movie ranged from happy to sad tears, and I was able to relate to the characters. I love the way it was produced, and it’s a good representation of what life was like in the 1940s. Back then, life was so simple and relationships were a lot different, which is what I think Nicholas Sparks is trying to show. 

Sparks does a great job writing his stories, and I love how his movies are always about giving someone a second chance. I think what Sparks is saying is to give people second chances, people do change.
