As the season keeps moving along, varsity field hockey keeps on winning. Heading into the fourth week of the regular season, the number one team in the state is gearing up for the moment they have been looking forward to all season: bringing the Mack Plaque back to Londonderry.

The captain of the team, senior Alison Chambers, looks to this game to keep their winning streak alive.
“This game would give our team a lot of confidence and push us to keep our undefeated season going,” Chambers said.
Chambers, as well as the rest of the team, believe that they have what it takes to take down any opponent that faces them. But with that confidence, comes a lot of work behind the scenes that fans may not see.
“Every day, we go out there, we work hard at practice, and we hustle,” Chambers said. “We’re actually even getting turf time to practice specifically on their turf.”
The team’s preparation for each game is what sets them apart from the other teams in the state. The focus and work they put in each day has landed them the top seed so far this season. With a win, the team will remain at the top of the standings, as the number one seed in the state.
“It’s intimidating for other teams,” Chambers said. “It kind of puts a target on our backs.”
As the captain, Chambers is “excited” to lead her team against the Astros on Friday night and keep her team’s season trending in the right direction.
“I’m going to show up ready to play every day and help motivate everyone,” Chambers said.
