Each year, snowstorms and winters in New England, especially New Hampshire, have been becoming milder and milder. Students have been losing hope on snow days. It has been forever since students woke up in the morning, scrambled out of bed to see the trees covered in snow, checked their phones for the announcement that the day is all for themselves.
Students have been experiencing snow day withdrawals. When it seems like we might just get a delay or snow day, we’re at school trying our best to park in main lot despite the snow covering the lines, just to get out at 2:14 and see everyone’s cars parked like we’ve never even taken drivers ed.
One day off doesn’t seem like it could have any real impact, but for students, this means a day to catch up on missed school work, a day to study even harder for that test, and overall, a day to relax before going back to the chaos of life.

Even though those snow day superstitions we all participated in throughout elementary school may not be needed, we should bring them back for old times sake.
First thing you’ve got to do: put on your pajamas not only backwards, but also inside out. Next, put your slippers on the opposite feet. Third, fill all of the toilets in your home with ice. Finally, sleep with a spoon under your pillow.
Participating in these activities may seem like silly rituals with the predicted amount of snowfall we are receiving, but they are so much more than that. These are traditions students have been partaking in for generations, so let’s continue spreading the snow day magic.
Snow days are the ultimate child-at-heart day. When people get snowed in from going to work, they get to spend the day like they did back in school having the best day off, after doing these superstitions, praying for a snow day the night before.
Now that we’re older, who said we still can’t do this? Go outside, play in the snow, build a snowman, sled down a hill, and just enjoy the little snow days we have currently, because these days don’t just happen — they need a little bit of the superstition tradition.
