The ceiling of the music elective classroom flooded during B period on May 18. Students and staff nearby reported water leaking heavily. By the start of D period, the water had stopped.

The flooded area was dealt with immediately by the ground and maintenance staff with no damage to the building.

Choir Director and music elective teacher Danielle Loschiavo first noticed that there was a leakage coming from the ceiling at the beginning of the period. She said that she had not noticed that it was an active leak, but rather thought it was “spilled tea.”

“My initial thought was that someone had spilled their tea on the floor, and, when I walked further into the room, I noticed it was more noticeable on the floor in the front. Then, I noticed the top of the ceiling seemed to be dripping.”

Once Loschiavo noticed the leak, Assistant Band Director Devin Dibernardo and Band Director Serge Beaulieu also assessed the situation.

“We moved stuff out of the way in time,” Loschiavo said. “Luckily, we could see that nothing was damaged, and some medal equipment may have become damp. We will have to ensure that they still work.”

The ground and maintenance staff have not yet released additional information regarding the source of the leak. More information to come on the matter.
