Student IDs are to be visible at all times at LHS starting Monday, November 7, 2022.

In an effort to increase safety and security at LHS, the Londonderry School District and LHS administration is mandating that student IDs must be visible on students every day. This mandate begins on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022.

According to an email sent out by House 2 Assistant Principal Ryan O’ Connor on Nov. 2, “We would like all students, teachers, administrators, and support staff to have their IDs clearly visible on their person every day,” AP O’ Connor said. “You may wear them hanging from a lanyard around your neck like most staff do, or have them clipped to a belt, pocket, or backpack.”

To help ensure that student IDs are able to be visible O’Connor stated in his email that “new lanyards and plastic ID sleeves have arrived and will be handed out during lunches this week.” Students are welcome to grab which ever item is the most convenient.

LHS administration is also seeking to make student IDs of greater use at school.

“As time progresses, we are working to have your IDs play more of a role in life at LHS, from accessing vending machines and cafe lunches to attendance purposes,” O’Connor said.

At the end of his email, O’Connor reiterated the importance of the new mandate and expressed his gratitude towards students and staff in advance for their compliance.

“This is an important part of keeping LHS safe and is something that is in all of our best interest,” O’Connor said. “Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.”
