Little Lancer Day is highly anticipated by many kindergarteners. Whether they are excited for face painting, karaoke, making bracelets, or any of the other activities, they are bound to have a good time. This year, the class of 2037 joined Lancer Nation for a day full of fun on Wednesday, May 14.
According to House 4 Assistant Principal Katie Sullivan, this event started in 2004, making it “a tradition that’s been going on forever.”
“I think it’s a great community event because it’s a great beginning stage of letting the Moose Hill kids know what Londonderry High School is all about,” Sullivan said.
In order to show these kids what LHS is all about, performances were put on, one of which showcased the Lancer Dancers. Senior Charlotte Betty along with the rest of the team danced and performed their pom routine.
“I’m excited to see all the kids’ smiling faces because they always have fun on this day,” Betty said.
Pediatric Occupational Therapist Courtney Porter was another person to get to see the kids enjoying their day.

“I think it’s just an exciting day for them to hang out with older kids and do fun activities,” Porter said. “They really look forward to it, it’s a lot of fun.”
Porter says that depending on the kid, the activities they were looking forward to differed.
“Some were very excited about the dress up, they were excited about the singing, and I think face painting was what they talked a lot about.”
Running some of these activities were sophomores Summer Butler and Anna Arnott. With each group getting to choose a game or activity for their table, the pair chose musical hula hoops. Butler hopes that the kids learned what “the Lancer’s are all about”.
“What’s important is getting them excited for high school in the upcoming future,” Arnott said. “I hope they learn that school can be fun.”

This day gave the kindergarteners a preview of Lancer Nation. Although 2037 seems far away, the time will fly by for these students. With the help of Little Lancer Day, these kindergarteners are jump starting their school careers, getting them excited for the years to come.
According to Sullivan, the most important part of the day is “seeing the connections that our high school kids make with the little ones.”
“Today is all about being a role model, showcasing what Lancer Nation is all about and getting these kids excited to someday be Lancers,” Sullivan said.
