The stage is set, and the actors are ready. Spring Theater Night is coming to the Derry Opera House tonight at 7 p.m., performed by the Lancer Drama Club. Be there for a night you won’t forget.

One of the drama club directors, Noah Payeur, loves to have Spring Theater Night every year. 

“We want to let the drama club kids have a chance to perform,” Payeur said. “Not necessarily within the confines and context of a show, but kind of exercising their right to choose whatever they want.” 

Senior Reya Rivera, who has been a part of the drama club for four years, has done Spring Theater Night these past two years with not only performing but also hosting. 

Rivera has “loved seeing her best friend Reagan sing on stage by herself for the first time.”

Since Rivera is a senior, this is her final performance here at LHS, so she is excited to perform her last solo. 

“It’s a way to say goodbye,” Rivera said. “Not only to the drama club, but to everyone I love here at LHS.”

Another Senior, Hanna Carroll, is so excited to perform tonight. Her favorite part of this journey was “seeing all the love and support from each other.” 

“Whether you’re on stage singing your song or helping out, someone is always telling you that you are doing an amazing job,” Carroll said. 

Carroll’s favorite memory is seeing “everyone have a big smile on their faces while performing at rehearsal. It shows that everyone is having fun, and that’s always what you want to see.” 

Freshman Carter Blanco is having a lot of fun with his first year of doing Spring Theater Night. He is most excited about being able to perform alongside one of his closest friends, Elisa Thomas. 

“Elisa and I have been in many shows together, but we have never been able to sing a duet or act across from each other,” Blanco said.

Blanco’s favorite memory of the process is rehearsing his duet with Elisa at his house. 

“It was a lot of fun and I always love singing with Elisa,” Blanco said.
