With a few tough losses to some competitive opponents early on in the season, girls varsity soccer is looking to bounce back and make a run down the stretch. The road to the playoffs starts now, with the biggest week of the season up ahead.
Senior captain Lyndi McKinnon said her team is “ready to play,” heading into the rivalry game against Pinkerton.
“This is going to be one of the biggest games of the season for us,” McKinnon said. “We are coming ready to win.”
Important games like these take a lot of preparation from a team looking to beat such a tough opponent, and that is just what Londonderry is doing.
“We have spent a lot of time preparing mentally and fixing small errors on the field,” McKinnon said.
In close games or matches, focusing on little details can make the difference. McKinnon and her team understand this, and are “getting better each game.” To McKinnon, winning this game is more than just an improvement to their record, however.
“A win on Saturday would boost our confidence and show other teams that we are a threat,” McKinnon said.
As the captain and a leader of the team, McKinnon is doing everything she can in order to make sure they get the job done against Pinkerton
“I am going to make sure I am putting 100 percent effort in the entire time,” McKinnon said. “I came to win.”
The girls varsity soccer team takes on Pinkerton, Saturday Sept. 27 at noon.
