To bring in donations for the new season, Green Council will be hosting its annual Spring Thrift Fair on Saturday, May 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the LHS lobby.
Prior to the fair, Green Council will be collecting donations until Friday, April 24. There are collection boxes placed throughout the high school, including the main office, each house office and the lobby. There is also a box in the town hall for any community members to add to.
The flyers posted around the school encourage students and community members to “bring in clean clothes in good condition to one of our collection boxes.”
Clothing of all sizes and styles can be donated, but no socks, undergarments or bathing suits will be accepted.
Senior Green Council co-president Benjamin Bristol is helping run this year’s thrift fair. Bristol mentioned how the club has been “continuing the tradition with two thrift fairs per year instead of the aforementioned one” in hopes that students and community members will donate towards a good cause.
“I hope students realize that bringing life back into old items is easy [and] that it should be done by [donating] them,” Bristol said. “I think it’s a great opportunity to show how used clothes can be new to someone else, continuing their lifecycle, [and] recycling their potential.”
